If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend taking a swamp tour with Pearl River Eco-Tours. My son and I were staying in Biloxi and drove the hour over to LA just for the tour, and I'm so glad we did. We booked the smaller boat and it was 7 passengers and our tour guide. The smaller boats can get into some of the nooks and crannies that the larger boats can't, it's so worth the additional cost. Our tour guide was a local who was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He adhered to the restrictions on feeding the animals in the wildlife area (unlike other tour operators we saw). We saw numerous gators and several raccoons, but didn't get to see the pigs. Our swamp tour was by far our favorite part of our trip and we won't hesitate to go again next time we are in the area.

What a great tour! Our guide was awesome. Surprisingly, no mosquitoes because of natural repellant from the plants. Lots of Gators and other wildlife. Loved that the boat was covered.

On March 7, 2020 we had the pleasure of taking a Pearl River Eco tour deep into the swamps with Captain John Royen. He is an excellent guide with an incredible depth of knowledge. He shared this knowledge with us by introducing us to the floral and fauna of the swamp. He showed us the natural inhabitants of the swamp including alligators, blue heron, egrets, wild pig and raccoons of various colors. There were 5 of us in our family group that shared the same evaluation of the tour. In our next visit to New Orleans will not hesitate to plan another Pearl River Eco trip with Captain John. Many thanks Jay & Carole

Great tour. The ride to the swamp was smooth and the driver gave information on the area. We had Captain John as our guide on the boat. He was knowledgeable and funny. We were able to see a variety of animals and learn a lot about the ecosystem in the swamp. It also was a nice time length. Definitely enjoyed the experience.

Captain John was awesome. Very nice up close and personal ride with the swamp we felt very safe. Captain John grew up on those waters so he was VERY knowledgeable. I loved the history and learning about the plant and animal life. This tour is a must! And yes this is not an "alligator tour", it's a swamp tour but we did see gators. Guide said Gators hibernate in the cold so if you want to see a ton of them come in the warm season.I love all wildlife and plant life so I really had a blast

Best part of our whole trip to New Orleans!!! Such a great experience. The guide was knowledgeable and super friendly. The tour completely exceeded expectations and I couldn't recommend this more. We booked through our hotel and it cost about $50 a person. Very easy and stress free process.
